Thrilled to share the success of our recent IEEE Seattle Chapter workshop on “Creating AI Agents: From Fundamentals to Implementation”!

We dove deep into the world of artificial intelligence, guiding our participants through the essential building blocks of Large Language Models, exploring the nuances of temperature settings, token, modeling and architecture of neural networks. The workshop provided hands-on experience in developing AI agents, covering the available agentic frameworks and addressing real-world challenges and limitations.

The engagement from our 30+ attendees was remarkable. As IEEE members from diverse backgrounds collaborated and experimented, the room buzzed with intellectual curiosity and practical problem-solving. We tackled complex concepts while maintaining a practical, hands-on approach that participants could immediately apply in their work.

The workshop’s success is reflected in the outstanding 4-5 star ratings we received from participants, who particularly appreciated the depth of technical content and practical implementation strategies. It’s incredibly rewarding to see professionals advancing their understanding of AI agent development and leaving with actionable knowledge.

Looking forward to hosting more such workshops as we continue to bridge the gap between theoretical AI concepts and practical applications.

IEEE’s Annual Board Series at Hyatt Bellevue was a smashing success from Feb 12-17!
Over 300 IEEE Board and committee members from around the globe gathered for a week of innovation and inspiration. IEEE Seattle’s exhibit, “Innovating for Humanity through AI,” stole the spotlight with groundbreaking solutions:

AI for Earthquake Early Warning
AI for Wildfire Detection
AI for Digital Equity
AI for Cybersecurity
The Seattle section also hosted a fabulous wine and hors d’oeuvre reception, celebrating the birthday of IEEE Managing Director, Cecelia Jankowski!
Ms. Jankowski presented the prestigious IEEE President Challenges Award coin to Dr Sheree Wen.

Dr Sheree Wen captivated the audience with her presentation on “Innovating for Humanity through AI,” highlighting AI’s role in earthquake early warning, evacuation, rescue, and much more.

On January 9th, 2025, more than 50 enthusiastic attendees gathered for an exhilarating Fireside Chat with Washington State Senators Lisa Wellman and Vandana Slatter. The evening was all about broadband, AI innovation, strategy, and education.

Highlights included:
– Senator Wellman presented the Outstanding AI for Good Leadership Award to Dr. Juan Lavista Ferres, CVP, Chief Data Scientist, AI for Good Lab, Microsoft.
– Ankit Masrani of Microsoft received the AI for Cybersecurity Award.
– Ram Joshi, Gunjan Paliwal, and other trailblazers were honored with the Innovation in AI Design Award.

Dr. Juan Lavista Ferres captivated the audience with his inspiring speech on “”AI for Good,”” showcasing the incredible potential of AI to transform lives.
