Join us for our IEEE Tech Talk on the NEC Article 690 Photovoltaic Power Systems on Tuesday January 25, 2022 at 7 pm PST. Find out important construction and safety issues concerning the installation and operation of Photovoltaic (Solar Arrays). There are also civil, architectural and security issues to consider, which may require more than just installing locks. We also discuss Solar Photovoltaic Power Systems IEEE 1562-2021 Recommended Practice for Sizing Stand-Alone Photovoltaic (PV) Systems. Recent (2019 and 2021, respectively) updates to IEEE 1013 and IEEE 1562 (from their 2007 editions) for sizing standalone PV panels, charge controllers, and batteries. In the past 15 years, not only have solar panels come way down in price, enabling even more people to economically be off-grid, but charge controller technologies have greatly improved, and solar panel efficiencies have improved as well. Li-ion batteries have also entered the market, as they have many more cycles than past lead-acid and Ni-Cd equivalents, and their price has dropped significantly, while their relatively poor safety record is improving. While IEEE 1013 is specifically focused on lead-acid technologies, its principles are easily applied to other battery technologies. The Q&A portion of this webinar will discuss grid-connected solar and batteries, as well as Fuel Cells. Co-sponsored by: IEEE PES Power and Energy Society Speaker(s): NEC 690 PV Systems, Curtis Ashton Agenda: 7:00 pm PST IEEE Announcements 7:02 pm PST Introduction of Speaker 7:04 pm PST Presentation 7:45 pm PST Q&A Seattle, Washington, United States, 98101, Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/298705

This talk presents a focused overview of mm-wave power-amplifier (PA) designs in silicon, including design fundamentals, advanced PA architectures, and state-of-the-art design examples. The talk will start with an introduction of PA performance metrics and their impacts on wireless systems. Next, it presents the design fundamentals of PA active devices and passive networks as well as power combining strategies. The tutorial discusses advanced PA architectures, including Doherty, Outphasing, and Hybrid PAs, for high efficiency, linearity, and bandwidth. Antenna-PA co-designs are covered as well to achieve on-antenna power combining, active load modulation, and reconfiguration. Further, advance and challenges of high mm-Wave PAs will be covered to address the emerging beyond-5G/6G applications. Finally, the talk will conclude with several state-of-the-art mm-wave PA design examples. Speaker(s): Prof Hua Wang, Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/299555 |
