POWERFUL TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS FOR THE CITY AND PUBLIC WE SERVE

Cities are entering a stage of transformational change that will be shaped by technology. Seattle continues to experience rapid growth that is changing our patterns of living and how we get around the city. These changes require the City to make more effective use of limited space, increase walkability, facilitate transportation and find ways to support residents across the income spectrum. By strategically using technology to address the City’s social and economic needs, we can produce an improved urban environment. Hear from Michael Mattmiller, the City of Seattle’s Chief Technology Officer, on how the City is using data and new technologies including low cost sensors to become a smarter city.

Keynote Speaker, Michael Mattmiller—CTO , City of Seattle

Michael Mattmiller was confirmed as Chief Technology Officer for the City of Seattle in June 2014. In his time at the City, Michael has championed efforts to connect people with their government, increase the productivity of the City workforce through technology, and programs to make Seattle a leader in digital equity. He led the creation of a City-wide privacy program to build public trust in how their municipal government collects and uses their personal information, and a broadband program that has led to increased availability of fiber-to-the-home gigabit broadband service throughout the city.

Prior to his role at the City, Michael served as a senior strategist at Microsoft and as a consultant to the federal government at PricewaterhouseCoopers. He received a B.B.A. and M.S. in Information Systems Development at The George Washington University.
